Holy Contour - John Forgot to Sing [P. Ham]
2015/07/10
New York-based George Elliott has been making independent/experimental rock since the mid-'70s, when he was a member of the obscure early new wave band Come On.
After his time in Come On ended in 1980, he was in Container and the ten-piece orchestra Strange Party, as well as working with Klaus Nomi as a songwriter and musician. He did a good deal of recording on his own as a solo artist, venturing into minimally produced folk-rock-psychedelic musings on Music for Girls. Forehead Movies, by contrast, was a double CD of almost 70 short instrumental pieces, utilizing several-dozen instruments and falling in the ground between experimental wordless rock and soundtrack music, though usually remaining very melodically accessible. ~ Richie Unterberger
Come On - Mona Lisa
Jamie Kaufman (v), George Elliott (g), Elena Glasberg (g), Ralf Mann (b), Page Wood (d)
Come On - The House (1980)
Strange Party - Imitators (1984)
★★★
